Thoughts on Democrat Extremists

I am not sure I am the person you want answering the question of who is an example of a Democrat Extremist. I am a fiscal conservative. That means there are several social issues that I don’t think should be solved at the Federal level. Abortion, for example, no matter what my opinion is, yea or nay, should not be decided on high by the Federal Government. It’s not a Federal issue, by my interpretation of the Constitution.
So the people I would list as Democrat Extremists, are those that spent the most money on plans that failed. I feel the need to be clear here. If Politician Alpha proposes an expensive bill to practically end homelessness, and that bill becomes law, then I expect several years down the line that homelessness will be seriously curbed. Let’s say that Alpha’s bill failed, that there are more American homeless now, as a percentage of the population then there was at the bill’s inception. Now a Liberal might reply, “At least Alpha did something” or “Alpha had the right idea, he just didn’t do ‘X’.” A Conservative says, “Alpha spent all that money, and the law failed.” I would argue that it is not good to help someone be poor and homeless, especially by throwing money at bloated Federal agencies. The more you break down the responsibilities, to the State, County, City, Township, Neighborhood, family all the way down to the individual, the better the efficiency.
So whom do I consider Democrat Extremists? Franklin D. Roosevelt: His intentions were great. The safety net of the New Deal help(ed)(s) a lot of people. But, trillions of dollars have been spent, and all of the New Deal issues still exist in seriously dreadful ways.
Harry S. Truman nuked Japan.
Lyndon B. Johnson: Escalating Vietnam wasn’t bad enough, his “Great Society” never fixed any issues. He was an incredibly powerful president, and yet we see little that is good.
Jimmy Carter: a kind man with a good heart for helping people – outside of politics. He slashed the military and made treaties with the USSR, only to have them invade Afghanistan. The Iranian crisis. But more importantly, the massive American unemployment, inflation, high taxes, and the ‘Misery Index” all soared.
I won’t mention President Obama as the full scale and effect of his spending hasn’t been quantified yet. I also won’t mention Democrats such as G.H. Pendleton or Clement Vallandigham who opposed Lincoln’s war with the South and fought against the passing of the 13th Amendment. Both the war and the emancipation had to happen or the country would not exist.
