ABOUT ME

I am native to California yet am not a stereotypical Californian.  I have no tan.  I don’t surf.  I don’t like the beach for the sand.  I don’t ski.  I generally don’t eat tofu.  That said, I am an adventurer at heart.  I have traveled the world and endured the harshest conditions.  I’ve done most everything that bears doing, and would do it again.  My favorite places so far are Paris, Cairo and pretty much any city in Malaysia.  To fail to add stuff to your Bucket List is to die.
Still, I have lived most of my life in California.  Got into trouble here too.  Yes, I once found myself among the bloated ranks housed within the State Prison System.   Turns out that you can lie about a lot of things, but not money.  Yet, prison life wasn't so bad.  Much worse was living with the psychopath who drove me to commit crime.  But I need not talk about that here.  This is my bio.
I was married once, to a lovely younger woman, and divorced her for ridiculous reasons.  Sad yes, but an amazing learning experience.  If you don’t get out and take some risks, struggle and even fail, then what do you really know?  Learning from hard experiences is much more valuable than book-learning.  Just like living life is much more valuable than collecting money.
Book learning has its place, don’t get me wrong.  I graduated from the University of California with a fine BA Degree in Religious Studies, of all Majors.  I also went on to a little school in Michigan to work toward a Masters in Medieval History, but that got cut short.  Since then I have earned a Masters in Family Therapy.  The education has strengthened my mind for harder things, like writing.
I enjoy writing dark fantasy but have done so for only a short time – starting while incarcerated.  I do have a full autobiography to write (full of warnings about dangerous people, info on wondrous travel destinations, the awesome miracles of God, prison, and human relationship in general) but that is a harder nut to crack.  Until that nut is cracked, I am telling the story of Marlaya and her varied companions.  So much to write.
For work I have spent a lot of my life as a warehouse worker, but was also an auto mechanic, office worker, computer guy, custodian, scorekeeper and missionary.  I try to keep busy but I think I have this ADD thing that people talk about.  I do what I do but everything else puts me to sleep.  It really seems that mathematical.
Things I like: Heavy Metal and Classical music, SiFi and fantasy books, Medieval history, role-playing games, war games, card games, softball, classic Ford Mustangs, Malaysian food, pizza, PC computers, ceramics, drawing, writing, reading, creating, and getting to know people.  But mostly, I just love God.
