My Stories
My writing is progressing nicely. Forgive the adverb. Some time ago I decided to turn my body of short-stories, written in a chronological narrative, into a novel. This does involve a thorough rewrite, a) to connect the stories with adequate transition and b) to fit a greater storyline. The outline for the book was solid, even if the connecting bits were not written yet. I knew what was going to happen. Makes me a Discovery/Outliner.
The genre of the story is Dark Fantasy Romance, in a Medieval-type setting of my own creation. There are five supporting characters, and one main character. This is Marlaya, sorceress extraordinaire, a force for ultimate good, and yet touched by ultimate darkness. Sorry about the camp description. The book is done.
You will also find some interesting snippets here including chapyers from Book Two in the Conversion series.
Marlaya and Sabon drew together to support the bright and glorious cause of the Sun God. Necromancers and gangs of undead horror crept around the edges of the civilized world and needed to be destroyed. Marlaya’s fiery magic and Sabon’s god-given fighting skills cast the righteous light toward the heart of evil. The pair, and their companions, grew in prestige as their fight stayed true. But then love was born.
The burning love between the Sun God’s holy man and the beautiful young witch would not be tolerated. Their just fight against the ghoulish forces of The Afflicter emboldened them, made them one in purpose. Such noble feats throughout the kingdom would earn esteem from the Church of Atura, but for the shadowy stain of their illicit love. Atura had surely punished them.
“Conversion” is a fantasy love story of nearly 88,000 words. It has a tragic twist that I loved writing, having not seen its crookedness anywhere else. I have started work on a sequel, to let readers up from the cliff.
Conversion
"I began reading the story, there was no setting it aside to read again later. I had to know what would happen and where the story would go. Kept me wanting more! It delivered... Wonderful storyline and look forward to the next one! I highly recommend reading "Conversion" by R. John Morrissey."

A Force for Love
I was once inspired by a piece of Star Wars Fan Fic. This is my version, a romance story set in that universe. Can two Jedi fall in love?

The Paris Kitchen
This is part of my memoir. It covers some of the time I spent homeless in Paris France.

"All My Little Friends Are On The Way" is a very short Halloween story I wrote based on a great song.

Of Matters Gray
This is a Lovecraftian short story I wrote, just for kicks.

Just Another Vampire Love Story
This is a quick vampire story, that might be what you always expected.
